Sitting on the Street Today

Scott Walker January 12, 2014

I love black and white photographs. They are awesome, but I also like color. The problem I have is that some pictures tell a better story in black and white while others tell a better story in color. For that reason, I do not do everything in black and white.

Take this picture for example, color was the way to go.

When I spoke to this young man I asked, "How many papers do you sell each day." He quietly responded, "Ten." I then asked what his goal was each day... "I would like to sell ten papers each day," he said. Our conversation did not go any deeper. I couldn't help but to wonder, where he lived and how he got in this position. The only problem was that he did not want to talk.
