Just a conversation, please?

Scott Walker August 31, 2015

He was sitting in a wheelchair outside of a local eatery in Chicago. Most people walked past him without making eye contact as he said, “Hello – how are you?” to passerby’s. So, I stopped.

He told me with a smile that he lives in a nursing home down the street. “Do you like it,” I asked? He looked up as he told me how great it is to live there.

He was starving for conversation and friendship while enjoying the outdoors in the Windy City.

Franklin D. Roosevelt stated, “If civilization is to survive, we must cultivate the science of human relationships - the ability of all peoples, of all kinds, to live together, in the same world at peace.”
