Selling the Newspaper

Scott Walker February 1, 2014

“When I was younger I lived in New York, I shined shoes for a living,” he said. I told him that I bet he enjoyed meeting new people every day. “I loved it, I’m a hustler, I can’t sit still - - guess how old I am…” I said, “Man, I don’t know?” He replied, “84.”

When I ran into this young man who is full of energy, he was standing on a busy street corner selling newspapers. He told me he lived down the street in an apartment complex and sells papers because he just wants something to do.
